Week #69 - Do you hate Satan?

Hola COMO ESTAN??

Well I will start off by answering your questions-

1- Oh about that... umm.. its just that I don't have any time to write a letter.  I would love too but I hardly have time to write you guys every Monday because I am so rushed.  So, I don't know if I can.

2- No, I have not received the package you sent, but I have received the letters that you guys sent.  Thanks for those. They are cool and they have helped me alot!!:)

3- My comp is doing really good in his training.  He is almost done.  He only has like 3 weeks left and then he will not be the newest Elder in his training.

4- Okay, I will take those pictures you asked for but I forgot to take the picture of the ones you asked for last week!!!

5- I have seen a lot of things this week where the Lord has helped me.  I can't tell you about one specific thing because I have seen alot!!  All of them are significant.

Well now my questions-

1- So, will I get some sort of workout tape?

2- Elder Robinson doesn't believe that I have a lot of guns, so could you guys take a picture of all my weapons?  MAKE SURE TO TAKE A PICTURE OF ALL OF THEM!

3- Umm how can I reverse entrapy? (What do you guys think this means?  I think it is a typo, but what do you think he meant to write?  I am stumped.)

4- Can you guys take a picture of 3 things?  Thanksgiving, the family, and of something really funny that happened this week.

Umm now I will tell you guys about my week-

Monday, after we wrote you guys, we went to another BBQ which was way fun!! I will send picture of that.

Then Tuesday was a normal day. We worked our tails off to find more people to teach and nothing too exciting happened.
Wednesday we had Zone meeting.  Our Zone leaders had a meeting with President Riggins and that is what we talked about at our meeting.  It was fun to learn what president wants us to do.  Tthen we spent a full day looking for more people to teach.  We found some people that could be new investigators but we shall see what happens with them.

Thursday we had a meeting with president Riggins all day.  We even went to the temple and it was way cool.  I felt the spirit way strong and I was happy for that moment! Then we learned a lot of cool stuff from president!!  One thing I learned at the meeting is how I view Satan.  President Riggins asked us, "DO YOU HATE SATAN?"  I have never thought of this before.  I always thought that I had nothing wrong against Satan but I knew that he is a bad guy.  But oh how I was wrong. HE HATES US!!!  He wants to watch us die. He wants to see us so miserable that we give up everything.  He wants us to be worse than him.  He is actively trying to hurt us.  He hates our guts, SO WHY DON'T WE HATE HIM LIKE THAT?  One of the attributes of God is that he loves justice and HATES EVIL.  We should hate EVIL also and by hating evil we will hate Satan!!  That is what I learned!!!

Friday we visited a girl who will be baptized on Saturday.  She is progressing and she will get baptized this week.  Yeah!

Saturday we helped the other Elders with their baptism so it was a normal day!!!

Sunday was another normal day busy with meetings.

This was my week.  I hope you enjoyed it.  I love you all so much!

LOVE,

Elder Farley

Week #68 - Service always brings Christmas cheer

HOLA! Como están???!!

Pues como siempre contestare las preguntas primero- (As always I will answer the questions first-)

1- No todavía no he recibido (No I have not yet received.  I asked him if he had received a letter I sent to him.)

2- Tampoco he recibido (Neither have I received.  I asked him if he had received a package we sent to him.)

3- Pues esta semana tuvimos mucho servicio entonces no solamente prestamos servicio a los miembros o los no miembros yo siempre ayudo a mi compañero en todo lo que necesita, ni idea lo que hice solamente se que le serví, bien chereve!!!  (This week we had lots of service, not only  to members or non-members but I always help my partner in everything he needs.  I have no idea what I did but I know that I served him, well chereve!  I asked him how he had served his companion this week.)

¿me entienden? (One of my goals this week is to lose weight more than what I am doing, then my approach is to lose all my energy in the work and to lose the weight! I will do it in so that I can serve God with my whole heart and all my forces, and I also want to be tuco. Then I want you to send me P90-X then i can do more! Do you understand me? I asked him what one of his goals was this week.)

Ha ha ha! Did you like this Spanish? One of my goals for the mission is forget English, so I will also work on that. So we will see how THAT goes!!!!  Hey, what did you guys send me? :)

Well now I shall tell thee of mine week--:)

Well on Tuesday we had our district meeting and I taught about finding people to teach and I think that it was super good!! I felt the spirit and I hope that the Elders and Hermanas that are in my district could fell the spirit as well.  I also hope that they can apply the things that they felt.  I will continue to keep my eye on that and I will continue helping them as best as I can!!!  For the rest of the day we visited our investigators and we visited members to help the get in the Christmas mood.

Wednesday, in the morning, we helped a family with a service project.  We just helped them paint their house and it was cool!!!!  Then they gave us CEVICHE. Its this food that is so delicious. Its shrimp and like onion and peppers in this soup and you eat it with rice a Verde and it was so darn good--I loved it!!!  But I forgot to take a picture of it so I am sorry:) Then for the rest of the day we visited all the members that we could and we helped them get in the Christmas mood.  We taught the importance of Christmas (Jesus was born to suffer the atonement) and how the best gift we could give Jesus this Christmas is someone that could be baptised so the atonement isn't in vein for that person!!! It was cool!  I think the members felt the spirit.

Thursday I was sick so the whole morning I was sleeping and in the trade (afternoon) we took things easy because I felt like throwing up!!!  But I did do an interview for baptism and the person passed and was baptised!!!  That was cool!!!

Friday was a normal day.  We taught Camila Linthon a girl who has a date for baptism and she is progressing really well.  I truly believe that she will get baptised!!!

Saturday was a REALLY fun day!!! In the morning we had another service project but it was with a family that has nothing. They sleep on the floor and they don't eat because they don't have money so its sad.  We were able to help them A LOT so that was way fun!!! We cleaned their house--like really profoundly and we made them beds and we really helped them ALOT!  I felt really good about helping them!! Afterward we went to a brothers house and we had a BBQ. Do you know how long its been since I have had a BBQ? FOREVER!!!  That was such delicious food!!!!  Then we helped the other Elders with a baptism that they had!! It was a REALLY GOOD DAY!!!

Sunday it was a day full of meetings.  We couldn't work because it was full of meetings.  I kind of know how Dad felt on those Sundays when he couldn't be home!!

Well that was my week--I hope you enjoyed hearing about my week!!!!

My questions-

1- Are you going to send P90-X?

2- How is Harris?

3- How is the ranch?

4- Can you guys send pictures of Chase and the family this week?

5- Can you guys take the challenge that I gave to the member here?

Well, l really hope that this Christmas season you guys can find the TRUE spirit of Christmas and that you guys can help those who need to find Jesus!!! You guys are awesome!  I love you all a lot and just know that I am doing to work of the Lord!!!!

Week #67 - Plaster and Pictures

Hola!! Como estan?

Well I will start off by answering your questions:

1-4- To answer all of your questions all at once, the computer last week was so slow that all I could do was send one email.  I couldn't do anything else.  I got super mad!!  So, just to let you know, that is the reason why you didn't get any pictures.

So, now to ask my questions:

1- How are Morgan and George?

2- How is Grandma and Grandpa?

3- How is Kendall?

4- Who else is getting married?

5- Has Trevor Nally got married yet?

Now I will tell you guys about my week-

Tuesday we had District Meeting but it was a little different because the Sisters in my district were not there because she had to pick up her new compañera.  So, we had Zone Meeting and Elder Robinson (the other district leader) and I taught everyone.  It was sweet and I felt cool doing that!!! So that was sweet doing that but I hope we taught so they could understand and that they could apply it in their lives.  We taught about good planning in their agendas.

Wednesday it was just a normal day.  We walked, taught, and testified.  It was just a sweet day!!! Que Dulce! (Sweet)

Thursday we were looking for one of our investigators but we couldn't find where they lived.  While we were looking for them we ended up finding like 3 new investigators so that was way cool!! That was basically our day.

Friday we worked like normal, but something sad happened.  We were trying to have someone come with us to visit people and right then his mom came into the house and they started yelling at each other! So we left as fast as we could and then we talked to him about his relationship with his mom but he doesn't want to change so I don't know what to do!! How could we help them?

Saturday we gave service.  We plastered a wall.  Let me tell you, Saturday was probably the hottest day I have seen here in the mission.  I got burned pretty bad but it felt good serving in that way.  Especially because they are a less active family and they were able to go to church that Sunday!!!  So, that was way worth it!! Vale la pena. (Worth it)

Sunday we had meetings all day so it was just a normal Sunday!!!

This was our week mas o menos (more or less).  If you have question just ask and I shall answer them!!!
Just know that I do love you guys a lot!  Thank you for everything!!!!

LOVE,

Elder Farley

Garrett's mission planner

I love to see all of the writing in the planner.  That just symbolizes how much work he is doing every week.

Week #66 - Garrett, the sleepy barber

HOLA!!  Como están?

Estoy re-contra feliz que HAYDEN no tiene que tener chemo therapy!!!! Eso es tan chevere! (I am really happy that Hayden doesn't have to have chemotherapy!!!  That is so cool!)

Well I will start off by answering your questions like always-

1- No, unfortunately the Aguirre Ortiz family did not come to church.  This weekend was the "day of the dead" and NOBODY was home for two days so we hardly saw anyone at home. We saw them one day and we asked them if we could pass by but they said that they weren't going to be home, so they did not go to church.  But everything will be okay. We will teach them about marriage (they aren't married) and we will invite them to bet married!!

2- Well, the highlight of my week was probably on Saturday.  On Saturday there was absolutely nobody home--NOBODY! So, at like 8:30 at night we went home because the streets were empty, and I was just so tired that I wasn't thinking straight. So, when we got home we did our planning and everything and I got dressed to go to bed, because I was so tired, but right before I went to bed I was looking at my hair and I thought, "your hair is ugly."  So, I cut it with a pair of scissors and then I went to bed.  In the morning I woke up not really remembering what happened so I asked Elder Robinson (he's from Wyoming and he lives with us) "how does my hair look?"  He said "HORRIBLE"!  Then I asked him to fix my hair and he did.  Now it looks okay.  Its not the best haircut I have ever had but its okay!! JA JA JA JA:-)  I thought that was so funny  that I cut my own hair!!

3- Yes I will take all of those pictures you asked for.

Well, now I will tell you guys about my week-

Well, on Tuesday we had District meeting and I taught my district about Moses 1 where God talked to Moses.  First I asked them about what they studied during their week of personal study and they said things like obedience, power, diligence, etc.  Then I explained about Moses 1 and told them that we need to SHOW the people that we ARE sent from GOD. So I challenged them to obtain the gift of the spirit so that they have power when they teach!! I thought that was cool!!!!  One of the sisters from my district is going home this week so we had a good-bye party for her and a Halloween party.  What we did is that all of us bought fruit and we carved it.   My companion made Sponge Bob and his house!!  But we didn't win the fruit carving contest!! It was a way cool party!!

Wednesday we had a special meeting with President Riggins to train us a little more.  In that meeting he explained basically the same thing that I taught in my District meeting.  He said that we need to SHOW the people who God is!!  So, I felt really cool because I was like in tune with the mission president!!! I thought that was way cool!  Then we had to practice teaching with president and we had to teach him and I felt like we did a really good job!! I sure hope president was impressed!!

Thursday we just invited just about everyone to go on the Ward temple trip on Friday!!  We invited a lot of people!!

Friday we went to the temple with the ward and it was really cool.  We helped them do baptisms for the dead.  I felt really cool inside the temple!!  Also I think I might have met like our second cousin there!! The new temple president is named,  President FURHIMAN, and he is from Utah.  I think he might be our second cousin or something!! So, that was fun talking to the new temple president!!! By the way, he is like brand new.

Saturday there was nobody home so we tried to worked but we didn't have much success at all!!

The same with Sunday.  We just went to church and there was nobody home because of the holiday, "day of the dead"!!

That was my week.  I just want to let you guys know that I love you guys a lot!!!!!

My questions:

1- Didn't Morgan get P90-X?

2- What do you guys think I should do for my career?

3- What does Dad's mission plaque look like?

4- Those Halloween costumes are sweet!!!!

5- Can you guys also send me Christmas music? Mainly country Christmas music.

LOVE

Elder Farley

Week #65 - Wowing us with his Spanish

OH, Hey Family!!! Como estan? Ha ha...get ready with Google translate because I feel Spanish coming on...........

(I had to reword a few things so they made sense.  I did use Google translate and Cory the translator to help me.  So, some of it probably isn't translated word for word because we don't think he wrote it right.  We took the liberty of guessing at what he was trying to say. I hope we were close.)

Entonces voy a contestar tus preguntas primero (I am going to answer your questions first)

1- quiero ser los dos, un productor y director de películas yo puedo ser los dos cierto? (I want to be both a producer and director of movies.  Is it true that I can be both?)

2- si tengo otro uñero pero fui a los doctores y lo quitaron entonces ahora no tengo pero tal vez en el futuro (Yes, I had another in-grown toenail, but I went to the doctor and he removed it.  I don't have one now but maybe I will in the future.)

3- no pude no se si hay aquí en Ecuador (No, I haven't bought Epsom Salt yet, I don't know if they have it in Ecuador.)

4- pues esta semana encontramos una familia para enseñar y son excelente, ellos son pilas y quieren escuchar a nosotros, pero no están casados, entonces el milagro seria que asistieron y les encantaron la iglesia, entonces eso seria el milage (This week we found a family to teach and they are excellent.  They are charged and want to listen to us, but they are not married.  The miracle would be that they attended and loved the church.  That would be the miracle.)

This week the service we did was there was this box made of cement and a brother of the church needed to destroy the box.  It was very difficult to destroy the box and to help him with this project. Only today am I starting to feel better because I got sore from this very hard job.)

OK NOW you guys can turn off your google translate jajajaj (Ha, ha, ha) Did you guys like that?

Now for my questions

1- Can you guys send me P90-X?  The reason is that I want to be buff. Jajaj!

2- (This is just a heads up) For Christmas can you guys send me ties?  I would like ties from the missionary store and I would like CTR ties and CHRISTMAS TIES!! That would be awesome!!!

3- How are my friends, that are in their missions, doing?

4- What other schools have really good film programs?

5- What do you guys think about my career choice?

6- You guys are cool!!!

Ok, now for my week-

Well this week was good.

Monday we helped this brother in the ward break this huge cement box and boy that was hard!! Finally today I am not feeling sore!! But I felt good helping him break up the box!!

Tuesday we had District meeting and I helped my district understand the importance of finding new people to teach.  I also gave them a challenge to find 7 new investigadors this week.  I think that they didn't complete this challenge but we got close because we found 5 new people this week!!  I really wanted to find 7 people but we came as close as we could. Tuesday was cool.  We also helped a brother in the ward move two huge refrigerators down some stairs.  These stairs were so narrow and I was so scared to bring them down!!  I was scared because I was the one carrying them down the stairs!!  That scared me because there were no rails to hold on to so I could have fallen off at anytime.  But I didn't so that was good!!

Wednesday is the day where we worked to find 5 new people to teach.  We worked really hard this day and it was fun.  The two families that we found are called the family Agiurre Ortiz and the family Alvarracin. I hope they can progress really good.

For some reason on Thursday, nobody was home so unfortunately we didn't have much success.  But we were able to make pizza with a family who are less active and we really enjoyed that.  It was fun and the pizza was good.

Friday we worked hard trying to find more people to teach and that was what we did all day.

Saturday we couldn't do much because we had a Stake meeting that we had to attend and it was about Emergency Preparedness.   We were there but we as missionaries didn't do much, so I wasn't too focused on it! Jajajaja.

Sunday we went to church and thankfully the family Aguirre Ortiz attended church with us.  That was really cool because it was the Primary Program and that was cool for them to see!!

Well that was basically my week.  I had fun.

Well, keep safe and always remember who you are and remember that I love you.

Week #64 - Ingrown toenail #4

Hola como están?

Well, I will start off by answering your questions:

1- We didn't get to go see Angelica this week because I had to rest from my ingrown toenail.  We didn't go out to work much because of my sore toe.

2- The picture that you saw of me on Facebook was from a little while ago.  The Stake here had an activity about family history work and there was like a little place where you could take pictures with those mustaches, so all of the Elders took this picture.  I thought it was sweet!!!

3- Yes, I am happy.  I am exercising and yes I feel healthy.  Everything is alright with me--there really is no need to be worried about me.

4- Yes, I will take pictures of my planner and my scriptures, but can I know why you want to see those pictures?

This week was pretty normal.  We were in the house all day because of my sore, ingrown toe nail that was taken out last Monday.  So all week we were resting.  On Thursday we started to work but we really couldn't do that much because we didn't have a good start of the week.

The only cool thing that we did this week was on Thursday I had a super bad headache and I was thinking about why my head hurt so badly and then I took a poop and right then my headache went away!! JAJAJAJA jk--that is just a joke.

No, but sorry this week was normal. I am super glad that Hayden is OK now!!  That is the news that I wanted to hear and I am super happy that Hayden is doing great!!!!

Well, sorry that this week was lame.  I am really sorry.

My questions:

1- So did you guys apply to BYU for me?

2- Just keep me informed about Hayden.

3- I love you guys a lot!

4- Sorry that this email is really lame.

5- But I love you guys.

6- With all my heart.

LOVE,

Elder Farley

Week #63 - Deep Doctrine Study

HOOLLLOOOA!! Como están?

Well, I will start off by answering your questions!!

1- I thought that a movie producer and a movie director were the same thing.  But I could be wrong.  I am known to be wrong at times!!  Ha Ha! J/K!  What is the difference?  I need to know what the difference is so I can chose which one I want to become.

2- Things went good in my district this week.  I am worried about the sisters that are in my district because their sector is super hard so I am doing all I can to help them.

3- I still have no doubt in my mind that everything will be all right with Hayden.  We, as Latter-day Saints, are the chosen people of God.  We are literally his army.  If we show him our true desire to serve he will do what's best for us!! D&C 84: 88.

4- The whole week was filled with small, seemingly insignificant things that have caused me to increase my faith.  Every day is a gift and we need to make the most of it or we will loose it.

5- Mom, I love you more than you could ever imagine.  Thank you so much for everything.

Well, now for my week:

Last Monday we went and played paintball.  That was fun but my toe hurt really bad afterward (BTW, I have another in-grown toe-nail) but it was still super fun. Elder Vance and Elder Sink have becomes such great friends here in this zone. They are great guys!  So we played paintball for a while with a lot of members of the wards.

Tuesday we had district meeting and I shared my training about GOD and who He is so we as a district can teach the people about God so they can know who is the TRUE GOD is! (John 17:3)  We talked about that for a while and that went really great and then the rest of the day was really good.  Nothing else really happened!!

Wednesday we found a new investigator.  Her name is Angelica.  We had some free time so we started contacting, going door to door.  Because I am a pretty funny guy, I stopped to make a joke with a dog. :-)  As I was talking to this dog, I looked into the house that was right next to us and I felt prompted to talk to the women who lived there.  This was Angelica and she is super cool.  We shared with her about the family proclamation and she has been reading which is really good!!  She couldn't attend church because she was busy on Sunday so hopefully she can this week.

Thursday was just a normal day and we really didn't do anything too special.

Before we went to lunch on Friday, me and my companion were talking to the Elders that live with us (Elder Merritt and Elder Robinson) and we were talking about deep doctrine stuff like space and time and how God travels and Kolob like stuff.  That was a crazy conversation, but it was cool.  So after that, I told myself that I would study Moses!! And that is what I did!  WOW that is some heavy stuff!

Saturday I studied Moses 1 verses 1-11.  Even though it was some short verses, I learned a lot about God!!  This week I also have studied a lot about the plan of salvation and I have learned some great and interesting things!!!  I will have to share them with you on a different occasion.

Sunday we went to church and everything was cool.  It was a normal day.  It was just fun going to church and talking to all of my friends that I have made here!!  I LOVE Ecuador so much!  It has forever become a part of my life!!!

Well, that is basically my week.  Sorry if my report is lame and sorry I can't send pictures this week.  I forgot my cord to send the pictures and this computer is old.  But whatevs?

You guys are forever in my prayers!

My questions:

1- What is the difference between a movie director and a movie producer?

2- Is there anything in particular that I should keep in mind this week?

3-Have you guys been working out because you look amazing?

4-Can you guys do me a favor?  Can you research about BYUI and see what they can offer for a movie producer or movie director education?
